Lilac-Crowned Amazon Parrots

The Amazons Parrots are what most laymen think of when you say “parrot”. They are all native to Central and South America although nowadays they are all born here in the United States. Some of these birds offered for sale are now three generations removed from their wild- caught ancestors. The Amazons are universally heavy bodied with a short tail and are mostly green in color with yellow, blue or red highlights. They are extroverted clowns and wildly amusing. The main disadvantage is their blind loyalty to their favorite human companion. This trait of theirs to love one human and exclude everyone else in the family sometimes causes problems in families where other members also love the bird. Having the unloved members buy their own bird, causing multi-bird families, usually solves this!

Although all Amazon parrots have the ability to talk, the most reliable ones are the Yellow Fronted Amazon, The Blue Fronted Amazon, the Double Yellow Head Amazon and the Yellow Nape Amazon.

oko is starting to feel a bit more comfortable. Last week she wouldn’t come out of her cage despite me leaving her cage open all day. Yesterday she was in and out and she seem so happy (whistles). She won’t go on my hand yet but its been only 2 weeks since we got her. I will continue to gain her trust😍.

    thanks madi

My 24 year old rescue doesn’t play. I give her paper to rip up but that’s really the extent of her activity. Since they can live 80 years.. I feel she is still so young she should be playful. She has lots of toys, all types. Does anyone else have birds this age and if so… how active? Thanks 🦜

i WOULD SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT NAIL POLISH-KEEP IT FOR YOURSELF, BUT BEWARE, AMAZONS ARE HIGHLY VISUAL AND YOU JUST MIGHT GET A BITE YOU DON’T WANT, ESPECIALLY WITH HORMONE TIME NOW.

I feel like the wood wouldn’t last well. And it doesn’t look practical to clean or hang toys from. The best advice i can give when cage shopping is think of how you’re going to clean it and compatibility with toys and perches. madi please what can i do to show him more love, am ready to cut off shifts off work hours

I made this quick forging box today and so far Winston loves it. I just want to double check to make sure the dry pasta is safe. Is there any reason I should not use the dry pasta? Thanks madi parrot !

Hallo Madi parrots thank you for accepting me into your group. 🙂 Here is my little guy Max. He is 38 years old. I just adopted him Monday. His main human passed away and his other human said they just couldn’t take care of him as it was to much of a reminder. He had been with them his his whole life since the pet store weened him off the dropper until now. He seems to be adjusting alright so far. Of course it will take some time for the both of us to get used to each other and build that trust factor.

I have had my 26yr old DYHA for a little.over a year now i got her from madi parrot farm and shes learned many words in this time…its a daily routine, she now calls the dogs to go.outside with me, she calls for our one dog by his name,( I wasn’t aware we said his name that frequently for her to catch onto jt but she did).
