Description

Moluccan Cockatoos for sale

All 21 species of cockatoos are native to Oceania. Specifically, cockatoos are endemic to Australasia, including Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea. They are also found in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.

Velcro Birds

When hand-fed as babies and properly tamed, cockatoos tend to form extremely strong bonds with their owners that last a lifetime. They are also known to be one of the most affectionate parrot species and sometimes called “velcro” birds.

These birds crave petting from their owners and prefer to be on or near them at all times. It’s very important that you’re able to devote the time this pet needs. That includes handling and socializing with them for at least two hours each day, if not more.

Some cockatoos can become depressed if they feel like they aren’t getting enough attention. This can lead to side effects such as feather plucking and destructive behavior.

I have been trying for over a year to give my guy fresh healthy foods. Vegetables and fruits.
I can count on my hand the number of times he took a nibble of something. He absolutely refuses to try anything. I’ve tried every way I know how. Small pieces, big pieces. Eating it with him, spoon feeding him, purée it. Hanging from his cage. He will literally put his beak in the air and not move until it is out of his face!
The only things he will eat is noodles, croissants and stuff that is not good for him. He does eat his pellets.
Obviously I don’t want him to eat that crap. His previous owners must have let him eat those things.
How can I get him to eat good things? I am at a total loss. My other birds eat veggies just fine but Bobby is sooooo picky. 😢

i got him from madi breeders

I also have one that eat almost no veggies. It took a year to find that she likes yellow and butternut squash. That’s literally it. The vet said it’s not as big a worry since she’s on a pellet diet but to keep trying. I use a mix of a few pellet brands to try to have some variety.

Actually most birds are total donkey junkies and you don’t have to train them to eat that most of them will just find it and eat it and as soon as you say the word they’re going to immediately remember it and often repeat it. I know bird owners that have had their birds from a hatchling for 10:15 or even 20 years and the minute the first person brought in a potato chip a french fry they learned to say the word right away and then start begging for those. I would prefer my birds to eat vegetables too and ignore the french fries potato chips then human junk food but I just don’t think it’s possible

Birds don’t like change…and guess who allowed them to run out of chop? They have been screaming for 2 days.
Beni kept asking the other 3 if they were hungry, then named all their favorite foods. Of course, that sounded good to them, so more meltdowns and screaming. She is quite the character!
I’m putting it together now, but I had to stop in the middle of making it to give them some to eat.
